NAMES FOR SOLDER PASTES 

All Solder Pastes are available for screen printing and dispensing applications.  We will work with you to ensure a custom solution for your process requirements.  The following is the method for naming the solder pastes:

I.  Classification.  First and second digits represent different bases/formulations.  Second digit can change to reflect changes in the formula.  The numbering corresponds to that used for the liquid fluxes.

• NC00-00 Series Conventional No-Cleans with a post-solder residue level of 3.3 -5.5%.
• NCS00-00 Series Specialty No-Cleans with a post-solder residue level of 2.2-3.0%
• WS00-00 Series Water-soluble pastes that are all non-halide and have very wide process windows.

II.  Alloy composition. Third digit.  This is based upon the popularity of alloys chosen by users.  The Solder Pastes are available in the following alloys, as classified by Amerway Inc:

• AM Category 1 Alloy:  63Sn/37Pb
• AM Category 2 Alloy:  62Sn/36Pb/2Ag
• AM Category 3 Alloy:  96.5Sn/3.5Ag
• AM Category 4 Alloy:  10Sn/88Pb/2Ag
• AM Category 5 Alloy:  43Sn/43Pb/14Bi
• AM Category 6 Alloy:  96.5Sn/3.0Ag/0.5Cu
• AM Category 7 Alloy:  95Sn/5Sb
• AM Category 8 Alloy:  95Sn/5Ag
• AM Category 9 Alloy:  42Sn/58Bi

Other alloys are available.

III.  Industry Standard Type Powder Size. Fourth digit.  The type number is based upon industry specifications.  There is no Type 1, hence no No. 1.

2.  Type 2 Powder, -200/+325

3.  Type 3 Powder, -325/+500

4.  Type 4 Powder  -400/+500

5.  Type 5 Powder, -500/+600

IV.  After a hyphen denotes metal content. 

Sample names of products:

Amerway Inc Solderpaste WS13-88 is a water-soluble flux/binder with 63Sn/37Pb alloy in a mesh size of –325/+500 with 88% metals content.
