Amerway OA Core Wire Solder Technical Data Bulletin

Technical Bulletin

Description
The Amerway OA Core Wire Solders provide the highest degree of reliability when hand soldering for production or repair. This product is an organic activated, water soluble flux cored solder, designed for very difficult to solder applications.
Application
The Amerway OA Core Wire Solder is recommended for use on very difficult to solder materials where rosin based fluxes and electronic grade organic fluxes are not strong enough. It has been used effectively in many non-electronic applications such as lamps, fuses, and jewelry. This flux is active on copper, brass, bronze, steel, nickel, and stainless steel. It is also recommended for industries doing bulk joining of metals such as in air conditioning, refrigeration, radiators, etc.
Physical & Chemical Properties of the Flux
Flux Type Water Soluble Organic
Physical State Solid
Melting Point 250 degrees F.
Chloride Content 4%
Availability
The Amerway OA Core Wire Solder is available in standard tin-lead and lead free alloys; in a variety of wire diameters from 0.020 to 0.125 in a variety of flux percentages from 1.1% to 4.0% and in weight including 1 lb., 5lb. and 20 lb., spools.
Safety
Amerway OA Core Wire Solder as used in typical soldering process will generate a small amount of decomposition and reaction product fumes. These fumes must be adequately exhausted for the operator’s safety and comfort. Wash hands after handling and before eating, drinking or smoking. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before using.
Residue Removal
The post -soldering residues of the Amerway OA Core Wire Solder are completely soluble in water. Cold water soaking can be used. However, hot water will greatly accelerate the cleaning process. Local regulations may require pre-treatment to remove dissolved lead from water where tin-lead solder is used. A pH adjustment of the effluent water may also be required.
