Amerway #65 Tinning Flux Technical Bulletin
Technical Bulletin
| Description: |
| The Amerway # 65 Tinning Flux is a petroleum based paste flux specially
formulated for use on copper or brass alloy surfaces such as copper tubing in the
plumbing or air conditioning industry. Since the Amerway #65 is not a water based
product, it is an ideal product for use in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry
where moisture is a great consideration. This flux may also be used for tinning of flat
metal surfaces as well as radiator repair. The Amerway #65 flux may also be used in any
pre-tinning and fluxing applications as required. |
| Application: |
Clean all metal surfaces prior to soldering or making repairs. Remove all
corrosion, dirt or paint from surfaces before applying the Amerway # 65 Tinning Flux.
Apply flux using a brush on all surfaces to be soldered or tinned. The solder will not
flow on surfaces that have not been fluxed. When soldering copper tubing for air
conditioning or plumbing, apply flux on both fittings and tubing. Apply solder to joining
surfaces while maintaining required temperature. When the soldered joint is covered and
filled, remove heat source and allow the solder to cool. |
| Residue Removal: |
| Flux residue may be corrosive under some circumstances. If post residue removal
is considered necessary, removal may be done with mineral spirits and a dry cloth. |
| Safety: |
| Amerway # 65 Tinning Flux is harmful if swallowed. It is also an irritant to eyes
and skin. Carefully read all safety warnings on the Material Safety Data Sheet. |
