The Amerway # 40 Water Soluble Babbitt Paste Flux is specially formulated with
lead free Babbitt metal that outperforms lead based products. This paste is designed for
repair of high speed and hard to lubricate bearing applications such as band saws,
connecting rods, clay products machinery, converters, crankpins, crushers, cutters
dynamos, engines, mill components, and related equipment. Since the Amerway # 40 is a
water soluble product, any flux residues left on the repaired surfaces may be cleaned with
tap water. The Amerway # 40 Babbitt metal in this product conforms to ASTM B23
Grade 2, SAE 12, and Federal Specifications QQ-T-390 Grade 2. |
| Application: |
|
| Clean all metal surfaces prior to making repairs. Remove all corrosion, dirt or oil
from surfaces by sand blasting, filling, grinding wheel or with emery cloth before
applying the Amerway # 40 Babbitt Paste Flux. Burn out all oil from the shell. Apply
paste uniformly with a brush while the shell is at room temperature. Heat the shell to
approximately 6500 F. Wipe the repaired surface to a bright finish with a clean rag until
the entire surface shows complete coverage. Residue from the flux may be washed with
tap water. |
| Residue Removal: |
|
| Flux residue may be corrosive under some circumstances. If post residue removal
is considered necessary, removal may be done with tap water or a damp cloth. |
| Safety: |
|
| Amerway # 40 Babbitt Paste Flux is harmful if swallowed. It is also an irritant to
eyes and skin. Carefully read all safety warnings on the Material Safety Data Sheet. |
