Amerway #100 Type "R" Non-Activated Rosin Flux Technical Data Bulletin
Technical Data Sheet
| Description: |
| Amerway 100 Type “R” is a pure water white rosin flux in an alcohol solvent system
meeting the requirements of J-STD-004, Flux type LO, designated as a liquid based
soldering flux. This flux contains no activators or halide making this the least corrosive
type of rosin flux available. |
| Application: |
Amerway 100 Type “R” can be used on critical electronic assemblies where current
leakage is extremely sensitive and where flux removal is not necessary. The Amerway
100 Type “R” flux can be applied by wave, foam, spray and dip application. The
Amerway Type “R” can be used on the following metals provided the surfaces are not
heavily oxidized. |
| Cadmium Plate: |
Tin dipping |
| Copper: |
Tin Plate electrolytic |
| Gold: |
Tin/Zinc plate |
| Silver: |
Solder dipped |
| Benefits: |
| Amerway 100 Type “R” is formulated with a high quality grade of water white rosin
which meets the test requirements for flux activity classification LO Type for Joint
Industry Standard J-STD-004. |
| Residue Considerations: |
| The Amerway 100 Type “R” flux residues are non-conductive and non-hygroscopic and
are not considered to be corrosive. While it is recommended that flux residue be removed
from the assembly after soldering, no corrosion or current leakage will occur if residue
remains. |
| Residue Removal: |
| For effective removal of flux residue, the Amerway Enviro-Clean-25 can be used in an
aqueous cleaning system. |

| Flux Control: |
During use of the flux most fluxes tend to increase in viscosity and thicken because of
solvent evaporation. For best results, it is recommended that the evaporation losses be
replaced by the addition of Amerway 105 Thinner until the proper specific gravity is
achieved. The specific gravity can be determined by using a hydrometer, taking into
consideration the temperature effect. |
| Safety: |
| Flammable liquids should be stored in a dry, well ventilated area away from sparks, open
flames or direct heat. As with all Amerway products, a Material Safety Data Sheet is
available. |
| Packaging: |
| Amerway 100 Type “R” flux is available in one gallon bottles, five gallon pails and fifty
five gallon drums |
